Picking through racks at the local Goodwill today, I came across this intriguing gem. The cover art alone should catch anyone's eye, but upon closer inspection I found familiar names in the thanks section, among them Balcony of Ignorance. It seemed I wasn't dealing with an average find, so I bought it for about a buck. Upon getting it home and putting it my stereo, the catchy post-punk tunes of The Trouble With Larry filled the room. This eighteen-track CD tip-toes the border of post-punk and Dead Kennedys-esque punk rock, delivering dark, heavy and occasionally humorous songs with dual male vocals. While the music seems to hint at dance music with an industrial twist, it really sounds more like a punk record than anything to me.I couldn't find a thing about this band or their label Good Kitty Records, but I am guessing they are from New York or at least from the east coast given the location of their label and the Balcony of Ignorance mention. (Given comments I've received on this entry, they were from Richmond, VA. Thanks!) If anyone can provide more information or tunes from this band, it would be appreciated.

I should have expressed myself more clearly -- how did you came to know their music? I was the lead vocals and 'sludge guitar' ("Perry Neal", for the two cassettes we produced).
that's cool! I can't remember where/when I discovered Balcony of Ignorace but it was probably through soulseek. don't have much in the way of your music other than a few MP3s.
TWL are from Richmond, VA. I was their bass player roughly 1993-1997. We never really "toured" in the usual manner, it was more like take off work and drive to NY or Fla to do a show. Not really much support to generate any national interest, they diched the drum machine and got an actual drummer in '97, released one more cd "Fine Freak Of Nature" in 2000 or so, and that was it. Richard has a store on eBay under the name hillbilly_behemoth.

Thanks for the upload. Last night for some reason I remembered their song "Kennedy Death Car" I used to play on college radio, and wanted to hear it again. Cool song!
2I got a copy of this album in 1996 from Bobby Crockin in Richmond who was a drummer I played with in a band. Bobby said he used to play drums with the lead singer in an earlier version of the band and he was replaced by "Larry"...a drum machine. I forget the name of the singer/driving force for the band, but I'll reply again after I speak with Bobby.

TTWL came from a local Richmond group called The Heretics. They played around town back in the late 70s. No recordings of that group exist, as far as I know.
